Primer, Paint and Topcoat

Once parts have been through the surface preparation of anodize, chemical conversion coating, passivation, blast or phosphate fluoride, they are moved to the 3P paint shop.

Parts are visually inspected, counted and placed onto paint racks in preparation for paint application.

If masking is required, it is done per blueprint using a variety of masking media. Click here to learn how masking works at 3P.

After layup or masking, parts are sorted by paint type and placed in queue for painting. Parts are painted to required tolerance and blue print specifications with the use of: solvents, enamels, lacquers and two- component coatings on any metal surface and to FED-STD color requirements.

Processed parts are inspected using a dualscope to measure coating thickness. Inspectors also visually check for trash, sags, runs and separation in the paint that could be cause for rejection. If the parts are deemed unacceptable by the inspector, parts are either written up for internal rework or returned to the customer for evaluation.

After processing and inspection, parts are packaged for return shipment to the customer.
