Masking
3P's masking team handles complex masking assignments using a variety of aids, tools and methods. We work closely with the customer to support purchase order and blue print requirements for masking, protection of close tolerance surfaces and electrical bond areas.
All masked parts go through our First Mask Verification process. During this process, 3P's masking team works with the customer to develop a digital masking card per the customer provided masking requirements. 3P has a full CATIA V5 seat, and can extract masking directly from your CATIA models. 3P can also use your STEP files, and other Unigraphics models to create masking aids.
The masking cards are kept on file and at latest revision level. There is a dedicated quality inspector who oversees all masking applications and manages our internal masking card database.
Once the customer has approved the masking card, our highly skilled masking team performs the masking requirements using many different methods:
PRIMED PARTS BEING MASKED FOR TOPCOAT APPLICATION
ANODIZED PARTS MASKED FOR HARD ANODIZE WITH "GOOP" LIQUID MASKANT
VINYL MASKING APPLIED TO PRIMED PARTS FOR TEFLON APPLICATION
PARTS PULL PLUGGED TO PROTECT SURFACES FROM ANODIZE
